A balance has to be kept between flora and fauna, because the nature reserve is fenced. Since there are no natural predators, the game needs to be managed. Periodic surveys are conducted and on the basis of the results it is determined what game species and how many animals should be removed. This happens in the most unobtrusive way so as not to cause any distress to the animals. New game must also be introduced periodically to prevent inbreeding. It is hoped that exchanges of stock can be made with other nature reserves.
All the workers live on the reserve. Besides new accommodation we provide the employees with solar electricity, running cold and hot water, working sewage, solar geysers, transport to and from town/school, medical facilities, for the children education and entertainment during holidays and a reading club on Saturdays.
