The aim was to renovate and rebuild the original buildings in the Karoo and Cape Dutch style and to construct them in the most ecological and environmentally-friendly way possible. Insulation and use of solar-energy is applied and use has been made of local materials and local builders to involve the people of Aberdeen, and to give as many men as possible employment.
After five years of building the accommodation now available for visitors comprises a luxury guest house for up to 6 people and the smaller River Cottage for up to 4 people, as well as 4 guest rooms in the main building. The guesthouse and River Cottage are self catering, whereas guests in the main house eat with the family. There is a little kitchenette in the main house available for breakfast and lunch, with coffee and tea provided.
Rates are available on application. All income from paying guests is used to further the work of the Foundation.
